Followup on our Chasing for life post

We received an update from Eddy last week,

We arrived back from Joplin with an incredible knowledge and sense that this was only the first deployment. The city is laid to waste and there is so much to do. We were grateful for the opportunity to deploy and to work. Since returning, the team has been returned immediately to training and readying for another deployment. We are keeping an eye on Minot, North Dakota right now, but in the last two days have traversed 3 states with tornado outbreaks. (We are presently in a tornado watched area of Illinois).
This year seems to hold a lot of dread. With the severity and number of these disasters, we wake up each day wondering who will need help next.

Funds are critical to continue operations.  With teams around the country stretched so thin, we have been asking that people consider not just supporting one town or community, but making commitments to teams like ours that are trained and ready to go to the NEXT scene.

From under a collapsed church to the nighttime arena of a town with little to no electric power, we saw the value of FoxFury again.  Our Nomad, which the team has affectionately nicknamed "Vadar", was an absolute blessing. It performed in the conditions and surpassed anything we have ever utilized before.

We created a new page, C4L DRT on FaceBook which has pics, please visit it.

Our thoughts and Prayers are with them.

After a disaster, light saves lives. FoxFury Lighting Solutions has outfitted Chasing4Life and its Disaster Response Team (C4LDRT) with new lights incorporating the latest LED technology to assist in post-disaster rescue and recovery efforts.

Chasing4Life helps track storms and provides assistance in areas affected by tornadoes, storms and other disasters. C4LDRT is currently in Joplin, MO assisting with recovery efforts.

“We’re so excited to continue working with Eddy Weiss and his Chasing4Life team. They are such great people who put themselves in harm’s way in order to help educate and assist communities in emergency management. We’re stepping up to meet more of their lighting needs as they’re busier than ever responding to disasters large and small,” said Antonio Cugini, Director of Marketing of FoxFury.

FoxFury equipped the C4LDRT with LED headlamps (and helmet lights), utility lights and flashlights in 2009 and 2010. Additional lights, including the Nomad 3600 LED Area-Spot Light, were provided this year to fill even more of the team’s lighting needs.

"There's no way anyone could miss the need out there for well-equipped disaster response teams," stated Weiss. "The first thing that happens in a community when these disasters strike is that the town goes dark. FoxFury's products have been an unbelievable asset!"

C4LDRT is comprised of volunteers from all over the country that have undergone training, have backgrounds in emergency response work, or have specialties in areas related to disaster response and recovery. The team’s members have responded to disasters from Florida to Haiti and from North Carolina to Iowa. They work with communities as well as larger organizations like the Girls Scouts and ASPCA.

"These are not just tools that FoxFury has supplied our teams. They are a lifeline," said Nikki Thompson, a C4LDRT Coordinator. "The safety of our people has been greatly enhanced by these new lights. The safer our people are, the more work they get done. The more work, the faster the recovery process!"

Chasing4Life is an educational organization focused on educational tours, disaster preparedness, emergency management, disaster response and disaster research. Its team's members have responded to disasters around the world and it is our hope that they will continue to do so. http://www.chasing4life.org
